Fantastic. I love Gunn. Such a great talker; so clear, concise and direct. He’s wrong about Larkin though, far too dismissive. For one thing, much of the best of Larkin isn’t in the least “sour”, even if some of his best known poems could be described as such. Personally I’d prefer Larkin to Bunting any day (though I’ve always cherished What The Chairman Told Tom.)

How interesting, informative and useful. The man's a giant. I recently re-read Gunn after reading his 'Selected Poems' brilliantly edited by August Kleinzahler. I found his words about form illuminating, and agreed with him about Bunting. I wish he had said more about Lawrence. I've never heard of Loy, but you can be sure I'm about to check her out.
